Medhat Mahdy holds a deep conviction that the YMCA is uniquely positioned to help young people grow stronger in spirit, mind, and body. The Y’s current 10-year plan focuses on a renewed vision to « make our communities home to the healthiest children, teens, and young adults. »
Medhat has an extensive background in not-for-profit leadership and strategy. He has a 37-year relationship with the Y as a member, volunteer and leader. He has served in a variety of leadership capacities both at the YMCA of Greater Toronto and at YMCA Canada.
As an immigrant to Canada, Medhat was welcomed by the YMCA as a young man. He believes strongly in the power of social inclusion to promote healthy development and success among children, teens and young adults of every background.
Medhat has been recognized with a number of designations from York, McGill, University of Toronto, Harvard and Queen’s Universities. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto.
