Global Dignity Canada Announces New Board of Directors

Ottawa, 16 September 2024 — Global Dignity Canada is proud to announce the appointment of its new Board of Directors, bringing together a diverse and dynamic group of leaders dedicated to advancing the mission of Global Dignity: empowering individuals and communities to live with dignity. This new board composition includes distinguished new leadership roles and esteemed returning members.

Leadership Appointments

Chair Emeritus: Giovanna Mingarelli

Giovanna, who has led the board with distinction for the past twelve years, will continue to contribute as Chair Emeritus. With a legacy of commitment to dignity and inclusivity, Giovanna has been a driving force in shaping Global Dignity Canada’s strategic vision.

“Being part of Global Dignity has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career,” said Ms. Mingarelli. “I am thrilled to support our new leadership as we continue to inspire dignity and kindness in communities across Canada and globally.”

New Board Chair: Chloe Langevin

The newly appointed Chair of the Board brings a wealth of experience in leadership, non-profit organizations, and community engagement. As a long-time supporter of Global Dignity’s mission, Chloe will guide the organization in its next chapter, focusing on expanding outreach and impact across Canada.

“I am deeply honored to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for Global Dignity Canada,” said Ms. Langevin. “I look forward to working alongside our talented board to advance our shared vision of a world where every individual is seen, heard, and respected.”

Board Members

The new board reflects a diverse group of professionals, each bringing unique skills and perspectives. The 9 other board members include:

Rob Rosenfeld

Role: Vice-chair and chair of the governance committee
Bio: Rob has spent twenty years working with, for, and around the federal government. He has spent the past decade working to support the health and mental health of Canadians from his experiences in both the public and private sector, as well as being a dedicated champion of animal welfare.

Angella Goran

Role: Secretary and spokesperson for #UniteKindness campaign
Bio: TAPanGO Technologies Inc. Founder and CEO, Angella Goran, is a professional cyclist, world-class multi-sport athlete, and a serial entrepreneur. She has spent over 20+ years committed to driving impact and philanthropy in working with all levels of government and serving non-for profits that give back to youth and community initiatives that focus on what she dedicates time and funds towards; Physical, Mental, Nutritional, Financial/Wealth and Spiritual Wellness.

Bruce Lazenby

Role: Chair of the finance committee
Bio: After graduation from Royal Military College, Bruce served in the Canadian Military for 20 years “retiring” as a Commander in 1993. Since then he has had several technology leadership roles including three CEO roles and several Board roles including Not for Profit Boards like Global Dignity.

Olivia Bechthold

Role: Director of programming
Bio: Olivia is a digital marketer who works primarily with women entrepreneurs and leaders to amplify their brand and impact. She has been involved with Global Dignity Canada in a number of capacities for the last decade.

Joel Serino

Role: Chair of the Unite Kindness DAO
Bio: Joel is dedicated to relational and environmental revitalization that fosters balance, harmony, and inclusion – Guided by Loving Kindness.

Komal Minhas

Role: Director
Bio: Komal is an entrepreneur, interviewer, and global public speaker with a focus on resilient leadership, positive psychology, and impactful media. Her work has been acknowledged by Oprah Winfrey, and she has interviewed global leaders including Michelle Obama. She is passionate about championing women’s advancement in the workplace and society at large through her non-profit engagement.

Jamie Bell

Role: Director
Bio: An interdisciplinary artist often found chatting on park benches, Jamie Bell is a passionate advocate for community-based arts and participatory research with nearly three decades of experience. He is involved in numerous arts and media initiatives and is committed to fostering strong community relationships through community building, outreach and engagement.

Tara Baswani

Role: Director
Bio: Tara is a globally acclaimed creator, design futures leader, and sustainable development expert with 25+ years of experience promoting planetary wellbeing and the UN Global Goals. Through Lembasworks, her pioneering creative studio, Tara has contributed to COP 21, the World Social Forum, UNGA Climate Weeks, Art Basel, ICBC, Global Dignity, and more, nurturing equitable social innovation, environmental stewardship, and inclusive cultures.

Remi Lemieux

Role: Director
Bio: Remi is a creative industries leader, sustainability expert, and social entrepreneur with 20+ years of experience designing large-scale creations and equitable innovation systems. Through LembasWorks, his internationally acclaimed creative studio, Remi advances the UN Global Goals, contributing sustainable innovation to Cirque du Soleil, Invest in Canada, the Government of Canada, and non-profits like Udayan and Global Dignity.

David Fodrek

Role: Director
Bio: David is a creative director and multimedia specialist with over 15 years of experience. David’s specialty is video, and he works primarily in the healthcare sector. He is also passionate about disability rights and education.
